On April 27, 2011, 35 residents of DeKalb County perished in the tornados that struck Alabama, causing extensive damage to Rainsville and the surrounding communities in their destructive path. This memorial is a collective effort to remember those who lost their lives and to honor those involved in search, rescue, recovery and rebuilding. This memorial has two sides: the left side is a reminder of the destruction on that day, April 27, 2011; and the right side represents the hope and recovery that is ongoing as the community rebuilds and heals. The 289 sq. ft. China black granite monument was dedicated on April 28, 2012.
Laser Works worked with the city of Sumiton, Alabama to create a one-of-a-kind memorial to its resident veterans. The finished memorial was comprised of a China black granite main monument standing six feet in height and six China black granite benches for the Navy, the Army, the Air Force, the Marines, the Coast Guard, the Merchant Marines and one for Prisoners of War. Surrounding the main monument are 200 China black granite brick pavers laser engraved with Sumiton veterans’ names and ranks.
You can visit the website dedicated to this veterans memorial at http://www.SumitonVeteransMemorial.com.
Gardendale High School in Gardendale, Alabama was looking for a way to commemorate the first graduating class of their new facility. Laser Works provided a China black engraving of all of the seniors signatures spaced out around the GHS logo.
